This was enjoyable to read because I've been to the Big Island of Hawaii and I recognized most of the places described in the book. It was like taking a mini-vacation, plus the plot and characters are well-conceived. It's a fun read while you're vacationing in Hawaii too. Vivian Olsen
I was attracted to this book by the word "chardonnay" in the title, because I enjoy drinking wine. I love the thought of it being in Hawaii (who wouldn't). It was a fun read with a compelling mystery. I also learned some of the history of the chardonnay grape and all of the places in the world where it is grown.

I have been a fan of wine related fiction for many years and have become accustomed to the good story telling often being marred by many factual errors about wine, wine making and wine people. This book was obviously very well researched and does not show any wine naivity.
It is quite refreshing to read a thoroughly well written Mystery Story that includes a great deal of accurate wine information, particularly about the judging process in wine competitions. In addition, I am a frequent visitor to the Big Island of Hawaii and found all of the details of the island, its features, the history and culture in this "fictional story" to be factually accurate. This makes for an interesting and exciting read where fiction is meshed with fact.
This book was poorly written and badly edited. The Hawaiian scenery described was the best part of the book. As an avid wine drinker I thought the wine material would make for an interesting read, but was disappointed by that as well. I'm not surprised there hasn't been another book in this "series."
