This little guide is so helpful and adds no weight to your luggage. We referred to it constantly during our trip. It really gives you everything you need for a trip to Iceland and lays the information out in a way that you can pick and choose what you want to see. It also gave some simple itineraries at the beginning which we ended up using and worked perfectly. We did the ring road in the clockwise direction and felt that it was much better than going the other way into all the hordes of tourists at the beginning of our trip. Since some of the info is brief, we just looked it up on the Internet later when we had wifi. I used the larger DK books for Italy and Ireland and was not as happy.Product details

Loved all the "regular" DK travel guides I have bought but this "Top 10" series just doesn't work for me. The size is way too small for reading comfortably and does not offer enough information for planning...
This book is a very handy little pocket guide. It has maps of the city and countryside so no need to carry bigger, bulkier maps. It divides the island into easily workable sections and describes all of the sites (with photos) to see in each area. We stayed all nights in Reykyvik and took day trips from there (did not have time to see the north-maybe another trip). The book even divided and listed (Top 10) sites by interest; example top 10 beaches, top 10 wildlife viewing and so forth. Great little book!!
Well put together book. If you're heading to Iceland ... you'll need this. Find out what to see, what not to see and where to spend your time most productively.

Great for a quick overview with good maps. Really just overview lists of popular sites. If you are looking for more details of the region probably not the best option. However it has a nice pocket map showing the top sites. If you are driving in Iceland I strongly recommend downloading the Iceland road advisory from google or Iceland tourism website. That map of road conditions and road types is crucial to your driving around the island.
For being such a small sized book I thought it was clear and insightful. Even includes a small foldout map. I recommend it. Looks like it would be easy to carry with us on our trip.
Cheap, well organized, sound recommendations, and maybe most importantly, HIGHLY visual. I wanted to know where to go to see the prettiest and sometimes off-the-beaten-path sights, not where to stay or eat lunch. This book was exactly what I needed, and I know it enhanced my family's vacation. This book, along with Google image searching any place that sounded mildly appealing, led me to visit places that I probably never would have considered, helping make it an unforgettable experience.
I will be buying Eyewitness Top 10 guides for all my future out-of-country travels, and recommend the same to anyone who will listen.
Visiting a country for the first time can be overwhelming, with so much to see and a limited amount of time in which to see it. By listing what is arguably the "top ten" of everything from waterfalls to restaurants, from wildlife to national parks, from bars to museums, this handy little book allows you to quickly review and select your "must-sees" while eliminating those which have less appeal. It has helped me ensure that I will see the attractions of greatest personal interest, while not wasting precious time on something that doesn't turn me on. It is not intended to replace an all-encompassing guidebook, but neither does it require hours spent poring over hundreds of pages, trying separate the proverbial wheat from the chaff.
It also contains a couple of excellent removable, heavyweight laminated maps that are very useful, including a very good city map of Reykjavik and even the city's bus lines. It packs more into 144 pages, and into a convenient, pocket-size format, than I have sen in travel guides three times its size.
If you're planning a trip to Iceland, your time is limited, you want to learn as much as possible about your destination with the least amount of effort, and also have a convenient reference source every day of your trip, the "Top 10" is a great investment. It provided much more than I had expected.
